1. Extra Work

Most “online scheduling” platforms are simply appointment requests in disguise. That means there’s just as much work involved in scheduling an appointment as there would be if they called your office.

In most cases, the time necessary to book these “online requests” is significantly more than normal appointments.

That’s because once your front desk receives the request form, they need to reach out to the patient directly to schedule the appointment, which completely eliminates the point of online scheduling.

Many times, the front desk needs to reach out multiple times in an attempt to reach the patient and schedule or reschedule their requested appointment time. Less than 85% of appointments requested actually make become booked appointments.

LocalMed ensures that 100% of appointments scheduled online actually become booked appointments.

2. Double-Booking

With other systems, double-booking is a serious problem. Most are able to “read” a certain column in your schedule (that you have to set up just for the online scheduling platform) - but they don’t have the ability to read your schedule in real-time, up-to-the-second, and they definitely don’t have the ability to write the appointment back into your practice management system, saving the appointment for the online patient.

Instead, the front desk gets an email that then needs to be put in as an appointment during business hours. This gap in systems results in a huge window of opportunity for double-booking.

3. Fake Patients

With many online “scheduling” systems, patients can put in any sort of information they want - a fake name, a birthday that makes them 200 years old, a fake phone number or email, etc.

When your office tries to contact them to confirm their appointment, they prove impossible to track down, wasting valuable staff time.
